Borrowed from the Boys

There's something appealing about combining feminine pieces and pieces borrowed from the boys... Let's talk about the white Converse chucks (high tops) in particular.  White sneakers are a major trend since who knows how long now!  These classic beauties are probably my favourite kicks to match with almost anything, I mean almost anything from shorts, skirts, jeans, and dresses. Yes, even dresses are no exception.  It's a matter of pairing them and putting the pieces together to make it look cohesive.

I have quite a collection! -- 5 pairs (high tops and low ones) to be exact! Shocking! I know! My active job requires them... when you're a preschool teacher you are constantly moving around.

For this post, I combined two contrasting styles: feminine & tomboy.  As you can see, I chose a more sexier feminine pieces to pair with my white high top Converse to balance out the "Pretty Boy" look I was aiming for.

Uber Cool Biker Chick

I'm a big fan of mixing contrasting styles.  I particularly like to combine ultra feminine look with uber cool edgy pieces like this ensamble.  I paired the floral mid riff top with a high waist black Talula pencil skirt from Aritzia for a feminine spin.  Then opted for Chuck Taylor by Converse and the denim jacket from Aritzia with the leather sleeves definitely add some edge to the whole look.

The Last Days of Summer

I wanted to take advantage of the last week of sunshine in Vancouver so I put together a casual wear that is appropriate.  I'm a little bummed out that I have to say good bye to the wonderful sunny days we've been experiencing this summer.  On a positive note though, it is exciting to dress up in the fall; I love to be able to layer clothes and adding some fun accessories like scarves, beanies, etc.
