Baseball Caps - Trend or Fad?

Giants and Red Sox fans, rappers, hip hop dancers and Tiger Woods all have one thing in common:  They are generally sporting or seen with baseball caps.  Sure, one may choose any design of baseball cap that suits to his/her needs and preferences.  But in the fast-paced world of fashion, can your dad's favourite sporty staple stand a chance?

For spring 2012 season, there is no surprise that traditional baseball cap takes on centre stage.  Designers are taking a traditional baseball cap to a more sleek, elegant and cheery look.  Personally, I am worried that not everyone will appreciate this fashion accessory as a part of one's casual attire.  What do you think?

I wanted to feature my friend, Auleene who is sporting a traditional baseball cap.
Here are some of her photos....

Aztec Madness

Aztec prints are becoming apparent in the fashion industry.  These Mexican-inspired prints are bold in colours with a ton of zig zag and triangular patterns.  I personally like to add prints and bold colours to most of my looks; which essentially led me to like these prints even more.

These eye-catching tribal prints are great in pairing off a solid light hues to balance the overall look. This H&M Aztec printed skirt is the perfect mini skirt if you adore bold colours and patterns.  I chose this sheer off white button down top from Naked Zebra which is very light and airy.  Finished the look with a pair of brown boots from Guess? store.

Spring Fling

A-Line shaped skirts are key pieces for this upcoming season.  I particularly like the short, alluring silhouette; resembling the letter A.  Works well on most figure types; great shape for disguising heavy bottom figures.  It is definitely a flirty, fun stylish additional statement piece to any look.

Recently I was looking for an A-line skirt which I was lucky I came across this neon green skirt from H&M.  I was instantly drawn to the colour (Yes, as you can see I am crazy about neons right now).  Considering the skirt colour in mind, I thought of pairing the piece with a universal hue.  We all know black is the colour that will match with any colour or print.  This black 3/4 sleeves lacy top from Annex adds to that ultra-feminine look I was aiming for.  I finished off the look with a pair of peep-toed sling back sandal from Nine West and Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo bag

Denim Lovin'

Denim definitely takes centre stage this season; interesting touch such as studs or embellishments create a fun piece to the look.  I found this denim top with embellishments from Material Girl at the Bay Department store.  As I explored their clothing department, I was excited to be able to find some trendy pieces in the store. Talk about surprises! I guess there will be lots of shopping at the Bay from now on. LOL.

I paired off the top with a fun printed Trafaluc Shorts from Zara.

Accessories of Note:

I finished off the look with a pair of Clogs from Promod.  These clogs add an interesting detail if you are going for a casual look.  Don't let the look fool you though, they are actually quite comfortable too.

Trendy Spring Booties/ Boots

I recently purchased these Flight Cru Bootie in Whiskey by Chelsea Crew and I have to say these were great finds!  These beauties are not only on trend for spring but they are also very comfortable.  A pair of dark denim skinny's or shorts with a chambray top from Lovers + Friends Into it Top or 7 For All Mankind Slim Western Denim Shirt both by RevolveClothing would suffice the look.  If you like to go for an ultra-feminine look, try the pair with a cute all white lace dress from Rebecca Taylor

My Beauty Must-Haves!

What's in my cosmetics bag?  I have to say, the beauty essentials I keep in my cosmetics bag are more or less and/or equally important depending on the situation and/or day.

Sephora lip stick, Kabuki brush, Estee Lauder foundation, Elizabeth Arden skin serum, L'Occitane face lotion, Benefit cheek tint, The Balm Hot Mama, Smashbox Lip Enhancing gloss, Blistex lip moisturizer (A must-have especially for the harsh winter season!) and a pretty red enamel flower hair tie

BUT.... my TOP FOUR essentials are the following:

                                                   Number ONE beauty essential

:
                                                          Lip Medex: Blistex
This has to be my number one beauty essential because this lip moisturizer not only relieves cracked, sore lips in the cold winter but it restores moisture as well.  And just check out the price tag....it is a no-brainer too!

Number TWO beauty essential:

L'Occitane  Moisturizing Face Lotion
with organic Olive tree extract

This facial lotion is by far the BEST moisturizer I have ever used! The ingredients of their products derive from plants or flowers; therefore, make them organic.

Number THREE beauty essential:

This all-in-one essential is great for travelling.  It's a sexy shadow and beautiful blush all-in-one.  This is a must have blush when the make-up artist in you is feeling unproductive. :)  Just put some blush + coloured gloss and voila! :)

Number FOUR beauty essential:

I gotta love these goodies because they don't stick at all! They come in a fairly big size, which lasts me forever AND they keep your lips soft and moist! <3

A Pop of Neon

I have to admit I am not a black kind of gal.  My closet consists of many vibrant coloured or printed tops, cardigans, dresses, etc.  Would you believe that I only own two pairs of black shoes? Big shocker.

Neon colours are becoming apparent this spring that I just had to share with you this cute top I purchased from the Philippines during my vacation two years ago.  This cute neon green with a sexy back top purchased at People are people is an amazing piece to pair off with any printed shorts, skirts or pants.  A printed pair of shorts from American Eagle is the perfect piece.  For the accessories, I went for the gold and white box shoulder bag by Lauren Merkin.  Lastly, a pair of Expression shoes to finish the look.

Photo shoots are always fun with friends! :)

Accessories of Note:

Shoulder bag: Lauren Merkin from Saks Fifth Avenue

Shoes: Expression from The Bay
